New Herb Garden

March 8, 2007

At last, the weather was warm enough to clear some of the area allocated for my new herb garden, you can see a picture here of my starting point (haven’t quite fitted the whole area into the photo); hmm, looks a bit rough doesn’t it? There’s a lot of digging and structural work to do. I plan to have 7 herb beds and a couple of seating areas within it; a girl’s got to put her feet up sometime you know!

I’ve sown some sweet basil, chives, calendula (pot marigold), parsley, cinnamon basil and lemon basil seeds so far. I have various herb plants like thyme, lemon verbena and hyssop to plant out into the garden and I’ll sow the coriander direct once I’ve got the digging done! There are also a couple of large rosemary plants in another part of the garden, plus about 10 other pots of herbs near the house but I’m trying not to take over too much!

I’ll post another photo when it looks a bit better in the summer; can’t wait!
